Also called the chick pea, the garbanzo bean is one of the oldest domesticated legumes in the world—archaeological evidence suggests it may have been grown in the Middle East as long as 9,500 years ago!
They're a rich source of several vital nutrients and minerals; 100 grams of garbanzo beans contains 20% or more of the daily value for protein, folate, dietary fiber, iron, phosphorus, and manganese.
Garbanzo beans remain vitally important in Middle Eastern cuisine, as well as those of India and the Mediterranean. They form the central ingredient in hummus and falafel, and are a staple in many curries, soups, and salads. Because of their high protein content, distinctive texture (firmer and less mushy than most beans), and versatile flavor, our organic garbanzo beans make a fantastic addition to vegetarian or vegan dishes, but they’re a great addition to any diet.
